Barrel House 8th anniversary party

Friday, September 21st - Sunday, September 23rd, 2018

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Cascade Brewing Barrel House is celebrating its eigth anniversary with a long weekend of special beers. The event will take place at the House of Sour, located at 939 SE Belmont St., Friday, Sept. 21st through Sunday, Sept. 23rd. The Barrel House opens at Noon daily, closing at 12am on Friday and Saturday, and 11pm on Sunday through Thursday.

The brewery will be tapping special beers from the cellar throughout the weekend. One is Watermill, a bourbon barrel aged imperial porter collaboration project between Cascade Brewing and Browerij de Molen, inspired by de Molen’s acclaimed Tsarina Esra Imperial Porter. The flavorful creation offers sublime layers of chocolate, licorice and vanilla that are blanketed with a citrusy bourbon finish.

Also on tap will be Cascade’s popular Diesel, an Imperial Stout aged for up to seven months in Heaven Hill bourbon and Pinot barrels with vanilla beans, resulting in a decadent cornucopia of flavors and aromas – including dark chocolate, vanillin and licorice – with bourbon soaked dark fruit and tobacco undertones.

On the guest tap will be Cuvee de Tomme from Lost Abbey. A massive brown ale base that is made from four fermentable sugars including Malted Barley, Raisins, Candi Sugar and Sour Cherries, this beer is fully fermented before being placed in Bourbon barrels where the beer ages for one year with the Sour Cherries and the wild Brettanomyces yeast that they inoculate the barrels with. A gold medal winner at the 2008 World Beer Cup.

There will be a cake cutting and hourly raffle prizes on Friday, Sept. 21st from 6pm to 10PM. The event will offer food pairing specials and vintage bottle sales throughout the weekend.
